Universitas Gadjah Mada pushing six study programs in the sciences group to obtain international accreditation ASIIN from Germany. The accreditation agency is a reputable accrediting agencies that accredit specialized courses in the field of science groups. Six study program will be registered to obtain international accreditation, the department of Biology, Computer Science, Animal Science and Industry, Mathematics, Geography and Environmental Science and Statistics.
Head of Quality Assurance Office (KJM), Prof. Indra Wijaya Kusuma, said the accreditation application process will begin next year. For now, the KJM is conducting socialization related to the process for the registration of accreditation by inviting direct representation of ASIIN. “We are socializing before we register 6 study program next year, the plan 6 Prodi was first, then followed by other study programs,” said Indra Wijaya Kusuma met on the sidelines of ASIIN Accreditation workshop at Hotel Eastparc, Yogyakarta, on Tuesday (13/12).
He said that the reason UGM encourage Prodi in the sciences to obtain international accreditation for the process of education in UGM recognized and in accordance with international quality standards. It is also in line with the mission carried by UGM until 2019 that is able to enter the ranking list of five hundred universities of the world. “The existence of the guarantee and the accreditation standard has been met. That way we will be known and recognized, “he said.
In addition to getting the accreditation, the process of filing the recognition of education standards agency ASIIN will drive process improvement in the internal rate of Prodi each of which is in the process of filing for accreditation. “With the filing of this accreditation process then there is a process improvement at the internal level,” he said.
One of the jobs that need to be addressed at the level of study programs, according to Indra, improving the quality of teaching and learning activities that are already running, improved curricula, teaching materials and facility improvements faculty ratio level.
Managing Director ASIIN, Dr. Iring Wasser, said that academic quality assurance in higher education environments has become critical to the world of college in a relationship with the industry. “The quality of academic shown on accreditation has been achieved as a guarantee of professional and qualified graduates as well as the management and integrity of colleges that have been recognized,” he said.
He explained ASIIN an accreditation body members is a collection of various representatives from universities in Germany. To obtain recognition for accreditation of this institution, the ASIIN agency will send the audit team consisting of 4-5 people and will make a visit or interview with the university have already registered. The next operation, the audit team will ask for feedback faculty who hold professors, business people and students for questioning response from Prodi in a university campuses. “We will review the university documents, do visitation and interview with the university for two days,” he said.
